Marine Drive

Marine drive is the best place to be in Mumbai. An heavenly place to relax, to photograph, to view the sunset, to pour your heart out, a hang out place with friends..
Here is a pic of a part of the skyline in the night. Experimenting night photography.

Times of India Equal Street

Skate, Cycle, Walk, Run
Make the road your Gym
Dance away your worries
Make the road your canvas
Listen to the bands Play
Let the children run wild
Wake up to Equal Street every Sunday!

I went to 'equal streets' initiative. It is an amazing thing to have the streets not for vehicles. Thousands of Mumbaikars owned the streets (a 6km stretch from SantaCruz to Bandra) to do multitude of activities. The children running wild, skating, jogging, cycling, playing on the roads. Its not just for the children, adults can learn yoga, aerobics, and a lot of other activities to keep themselves fit.
There were painters painting on their canvas on the road, health check up stalls, bands playing. You just lose yourself in all these.

I get to cycle on the Road

Looking at all fun, I am going to go there next week without the camera, to cycle (Its been years!!), to dance and to do all other things.

Bandra Bandstand

The next place I went to is Bandra Bandstand, early in the morning. Early morning light brings out the magnificence of landscape/seascape. The scene was very beautiful with Bandra-Worli sea link standing tall and broad in the midst of the wide sea. The rays of the rising sun intensified the splendour of the bridge. I will be going to the same place to shoot the sea link in the night. I bet it would be wonderful with all the lights and vehicles commuting on the bridge. Can't wait for it!

Jijamata Udayan (Byculla Zoo)

I started my journey of capturing Mumbai with nature. I went to the zoo (Jijamata Udayan) in Byculla. I wouldn't say it is the best zoo. But it does have some wonderful birds and animals. There is also a Museum nearby. The museum has some nice collection of pottery and other works from the British era.
Coming back to the Mumbai's own zoo, it is Zoo cum garden. I was surprised to find that the entry fee was only Rs.5 for adults and Rs.10 for camera. Water and food items are not allowed inside. The zoo is pretty decent with bird species, though animals were not many. Some of the animals and birds from the zoo. Some of the bird species found are African Grey Parrot, Military Macaw, Myna, White Crow, Golden Pheasant, Blossom headed parakeet. And some Animals found are Monkey, Crocodile, Elephant, Little Deers, Porcupine, Hippopotamus. Here are some of the zoo inhabitants.

The Making of Mumbai - Capturing the essence

Here I am, with the project to capture Mumbai and various things in the city, that makes Mumbai a wonderful city. When I first came to Mumbai I heard people saying 'Mumbaikars want to live in Mumbai or go abroad. They never want to live anywhere else in India.'
I now realize, it is very true. Once you have lived in Mumbai, you wouldn't want to settle down anywhere else in India. Mumbai is such a place, that makes people love it. Mumbai has everything a person can think of. You name it, you have it. It is the Business capital of India, a place for fun-lovers as well, shopping, resorts, beauty, cuisines from all over the world, and many more.
After living in Mumbai for one and a half years, it has become my second best city (next only to Bangalore). Now, I have set out to capture all of these things that makes Mumbai.
Wishing myself Luck and starting the journey to show Mumbai to the world, through my lens.
